"New" Taman Mini Indonesia Indah will be Open in October 2022

TheIndonesia.id - Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), a cultural and recreational park in East Jakarta, will be reopened to people in October 2022 after its revitalization is completed, Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated. After assisting President Joko Widodo in reviewing the revitalization of TMII on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, Hadimuljono noted that the entry ticket price is still being considered by the State Secretariat.

Before the revitalization, the entry ticket price was set at Rp25 thousand or less than USD2 per person. "Hopefully, it would still be the same (after the revitalization)," the minister remarked.

He explained that a more natural concept is being applied for the revitalization to make TMII a people's tourism park in Jakarta apart from the Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (Ancol Dreamland Park) and Ragunan Zoo. Moreover, the parking lot is designed to be used for up to 500 cars.

As for changes made at the Archipelago park, the government has added the miniatures of Miangas Island and Rote Island. The government also increased the number of pavilions representing each province in Indonesia to 37.

The Tugu Api (Fire Monument), which was earlier surrounded by ceramics, will also be planted with grass and legumes to highlight the natural concept of TMII.

The revitalization of TMII is regulated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 116 of 2021 concerning Acceleration of Infrastructure Development Implementation to Support the Implementation of International Events in the provinces of Bali, Jakarta, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.

The park's revitalization is in line with Indonesia's G20 presidency and will become one of the venues for the G20 Summit.

Earlier, the public works and public housing minister, during a working meeting with the Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR) last June, stated that his ministry had readied a budget of Rp1.2 trillion for the revitalization of TMII.
