TheIndonesia.id - There are a lot of recipes out there but not many of them show the steps to cook rice. Perhaps because it is such a simple staple. 

In this guide, we will walk you through the steps of cooking rice that doesn't come mushy, gummy, or burnt. 

How to Cook Rice

1. Rinse the rice. It is important to rinse the rice before you cook to remove the excess starch. Agitate the grains with your hands as you run water over them to shower them evenly. Change the water several times until it runs clear, then you are done rinsing. 

2. Use the right ratio of water. Add 2 parts water and 1 part rice to a large pot. For slightly firmer rice, use 1 part liquid to 2/3 parts rice

3. Cook without peeking or stirring. Put the rice and the water inside the rice cooker. Cook until the water is absorbed. Try not to peek until the end of cooking time so the steam does not escape. Besides, don't try to mix the rice while it is cooking because it leads to the rice becoming gummy.

4. Let the rice rest covered. After it is cooked, turn off the heat and let the rice sit, covered, for 10 minutes. During this time, the rice will steam for extra fluffy results.
