TheIndonesia.id - The National Disaster Mitigation Agency, or BNPB, reported 2,522 natural disasters in Indonesia during 2021 or 7.6 daily since January 1, 2021.

As reported by Antara, data from the agency revealed that floods, tornados, and landslides dominated the list of disasters recorded between January 1 and November 24, 2021.

1,062 floods happened across the country during the period, followed with 650 tornados, 511 landslides, and 263 forest and land fires.

For earthquake, the agency recorded 27 events. It also reported 15 events of draught and 24 events of tidal wave and abrasion.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 pandemic is reported as a non-natural disaster since April 13, 2020.

These disasters has resulted in material losses and deaths. During the same period, 7,522,866 people had to be evacuated, 584 were pronounced dead, 76 people were declared missing, and other 13,087 were been injured.

For material losses, 135,812 houses have been damaged. 17,305 houses were severely damaged, 24,293 were moderately damaged, and the remaining 94,214 were lightly damaged.

Damage also occurred to public facilities. 3,622 have been reported to experience damage. 1,462 of those were educational facilities, 1,807 were places of worship, and 353 were health facilities.

Lastly, 503 office buildings and 395 bridges are also reported to have been impacted and damaged.
