Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi (middle) flagged off the first vehicle export shipment at PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional in Subang, West Java, Friday (December 17, 2021)

TheIndonesia.id - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi sent off the first export shipment of vehicles to various countries from PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional, Subang, West Java.

"Today marks a new history for the government to have succeeded in building one more port," the minister remarked in Subang on Friday, December 17, 2021, while launching the first exports of vehicles from the Patimban Port.

The minister said that the export of vehicles from the port can increase national logistics competitiveness. Patimban Port was built as part of the government's efforts to increase the national logistics index to compete with Southeast Asian countries.

The Transportation Minister asked PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional, as the manager of Patimban Port, to cooperate with PT Pelindo to achieve that end. PT Pelindo is the state-owned enterprise that manages most ports in the country.

"The President's message that the Patimban Port is an effort by the government to increase the national logistics index and collaborate with Tanjung Priok to have competitiveness in the Southeast Asian region," he said.

Patimban Port, which was managed by a national private company, is expected to boost logistics capabilities, he added. He said he also expected Patimban Port to be used to export other national products besides vehicles in the future.

"I believe that because the national private sector is here and with the support from Japan, we could show the increase of good logistics capabilities," he added.
