Indonesia Received 9 Million Vaccines from France, Germany, USA, Greece

TheIndonesia.id - The Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) said nearly nine million doses of vaccines donated by friendly countries had arrived in Indonesia on Sunday, December 26, 2021.

"All the vaccines that have come are donations from friendly countries through the COVAX facility," said the Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Vaccination of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, in a written statement from Kominfo received in Jakarta, Sunday, December 26, 2021.

Nadia said at 176th arrival, Indonesia received 1,420,600 doses of the Moderna vaccine. This type of vaccine is a donation from the French government through COVAX.

At 177th arrival, the United States through COVAX has provided 234,000 doses of the vaccine and in the 178th arrival, it has provided 3,086,460 doses. Meanwhile, in the 179th arrival, Indonesia received 4,244,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from Germany and Greece.

"For this arrival, the Indonesian government expresses its gratitude to the Governments of France, Germany, the United States, and Greece," Nadia said.

According to her, the COVID-19 pandemic is a global problem that must be tackled together by all nations, including vaccination efforts. Through COVAX or COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access, which is a global initiative aimed at equal access to COVID-19 vaccines, efforts are made to achieve equal access to vaccines for all nations.

She emphasized that the Indonesian government keeps seeking vaccines both through bilateral and multilateral channels. Indonesia has imported several vaccine brands. All have been tested for safety and efficacy.

Therefore, she asked the public not to be picky about vaccines. "The sooner we get the vaccine, the more protected we will be, not only for ourselves but also for those around us," she said.

Regarding the Omicron variant in Indonesia, Nadia appealed to the public to remain vigilant. She appeals to the public to postpone travel abroad and be disciplined in carrying out health protocols and immediately following the COVID-19 vaccination.

“Self-awareness not to travel first must be done especially amid this Christmas and New Year holiday. It is important for us to take care of each other,” said Nadia.
