Indonesian Police Launches App to Monitor Quarantine

TheIndonesia.id - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has just launched an app to monitor international arrivals and ensure their quarantine adherence.

Polri’s spokesperson Insp. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said the development and launch of the app is in accordance with President Joko Widodo’s instruction for everyone to comply with applicable regulations related to quarantine period, in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19 Omicron variant.

“The launch is part of the government and Polri’s commitment to mitigate the spread of Omicron in the country,” Dedy said during the official launching at Soekarno-Hatta international airport, Tangerang, on Thursday, January 6, as reported by Antara.

Visitors from abroad will be asked to download the app upon their arrival and register themselves by completing required information. Afterwards, they would have to scan the barcode available in quarantine locations, such as hotels, and this app will allow real-time monitoring on international arrivals.

It also shows important data, such as quarantine statistics and PCR test results of people in quarantine. The dashboard will be available at monitoring center in Polri’s headquarters as well as in quarantine locations.

The app will also notify users if they’re outside the area of designated quarantine location.

Prasetyo said this app will complement other efforts done by Polri to handle the current development of pandemic. According to him, the police also establish task forces that will be appointed in entry points.

 “We monitor international arrivals, including in ports and borders,” the police said.

Besides the police, other elements in the government also continue preparation to accommodate obligatory quarantine for international arrivals.

On Tuesday, head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Lieutenant Gen. Suharyanto inspected three quarantine hotels in Jakarta to review their readiness for accommodating foreign travelers.

"We hope that the hotels will be ready as a quarantine place for foreign travelers," Suharyanto said.
