TheIndonesia.id - Lebak Regency Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) has confirmed that one house was destroyed in the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Sumur, Banten, on Friday, January 14.

The quake, which occurred at 4.15 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB), destroyed the house of a resident in Rancasema village, Cibadak subdistrict, Lebak regency.

“Fortunately, owner of the house was safe,” head of emergency and logistics at BPBD Lebak Agus Riza Faizal confirmed on Friday, as reported by Antara.

He said the house was completely destroyed in the disaster, and rescue team has been deployed to the location.

House owner Arinah has been asked to take shelter in a relative’s house.

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit Banten on Friday, with tremors felt in nearby cities, including Jakarta, Depok, and Bekasi.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter was at 52 km southwest of Sumur subdistrict in Banten and occurred at a depth of 10 km. The Agency also reported no threat of tsunami.
