Mandalika Bracing for Mounting Rubbish During MotoGP

TheIndonesia.id - The West Nusa Tenggara government is bracing for the massive amount of waste from MotoGP Mandalika race that’s set to take place in March.

Central Lombok environment office revealed that it has prepared at least 10 garbage trucks to assist with the waste management during the international event.

“The fleet of garbage vehicles will be utilized to pick up trash in a number of spots within the special economic zone, or KEK,” head of the office Supardiono said on Monday, January 24, as reported by Antara.

He also revealed that a third party has been appointed to manage the tons of trash resulting from the event, but local government will provide support related to waste management in the area.

In addition, the organizing committee will also collaborate with groups focusing on waste recycling that will help with waste sorting and further treatment.

“The government is ready to support and be part of the local committee to ensure the success of the event,” Supardiono said.

Organizers expect the amount of waste during MotoGP Mandalika to be far exceeding the amount during the World Superbike (WSBK) race last year, which amounted to up to 24 tons, as the number of spectators is estimated triple the previous event.
