The regency’s marine and fisheries office reported that the loss was experienced by fishermen in the sector across five subdistricts.

“The flood happened and created loss in five subdistricts, [as it affected] embankments and ponds owned by fishermen in North Aceh,” office secretary Murzani said on Wednesday, January 26, as reported by Antara.

The office revealed that 707 hectares of embankment and four hectares of cultivation pond owned by local fishers were affected by the flood that first hit the regency at the start of 2022.

In Lhoksukon subdistrict, 85 and 267 hectares of embankment for milkfish and white leg shrimp, respectively, were hit by flood – along with a hectare of catfish pond.
