Parliament Elects 7 Indonesia's Election Commissioners

TheIndonesia.id - Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) has elected seven members of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) for the terms of 2022-2027 in a plenary meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday early morning.

The chairman of Commission II, Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung, read out the names of the first to seven members of the Indonesian KPU which will be submitted to the President of the Republic of Indonesia. The seven names are Betty Epsilon Idroos, Hasyim Asy'ari, Mochammad Afifuddin, Parsadaan Harahap, Yulianto Sudrajat, Idham Holik and August Mellaz.

"The order of one to seven will be inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, February 17, 2022.

While for the eighth to 14th place are Viryan, Iffa Rosita, Dahliah, I Dewa Kade Wiarsa Raka Sandi, Iwan Rompo Banne, Yessy Yatty Momongan and Muchamad Ali Safa'at.

Doli explained, initially the parliament members will elect by voting, but due to a long debate and several considerations, it was decided based on rankings in the end. Doli emphasized that there were various considerations in choosing the names, including objectives, quality, electoral capacity, leadership, building good communication, innovation, creativity, to physical and mental health aspects.

Previously, Commission II of the DPR RI completed the fit and proper test for 14 candidates for members of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) and 10 candidates for members of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of the Republic of Indonesia for the term of 2022-2027. The fit and proper test was conducted from February 14-16, 2022.

Each candidate member is scheduled for a maximum of one hour for vision and mission presentation as well as in-depth sessions with members of Commission II of the DPR RI.

5 Election Oversight Body Commissioners

On the same plenary meeting, Parliament has appointed five members of the Indonesian Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) for the terms of 2022-2027. Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung read out the names of the first to five members of the RI Bawaslu which will be submitted to the President.

Based on the rankings, the five names are Lolly Suhenty, Puadi, Rahmad Bagja, Totok Hariyono, and Herwyn Jefler Hielsa Malonda. "The order of one to five will be inaugurated by the President," he said.

While for the sixth to tenth place, namely Subair, Fritz Edward Siregar, Aditya Perdana, Mardiana Rusli, and Andi Tenri Sompa.

Doli emphasized the various considerations in choosing the names, including objectives, quality, electoral capacity, leadership, building good communication, innovation, creativity to physical and mental health aspects.
