TheIndonesia.id - Asian Development Bank (ADB) is committed to assisting Indonesia in planning the National Capital City (IKN) of Nusantara to create an inclusive and carbon-neutral city. ADB will assist the Nusantara IKN Authority in designing, assessing potential environmental and social impacts, and raising financing from government and private sector sources.
“ADB is ready to help plan the historic relocation of Indonesia's capital city from Jakarta to the archipelago,” said ADB Vice President Ahmed M. Saeed in Jakarta, Friday, March 18, 2022.
As a first step, ADB will hold an international conference to study other countries in implementing carbon-neutral and inclusive urban development. According to Saeed, IKN Nusantara development opens a unique opportunity to apply the latest studies and experiences on aspects that can make cities fun and efficient for work, residence, and recreation.
"ADB will share our international learning to support the IKN Nusantara Authority in designing and funding the construction of the new capital city," he said.
Head of Nusantara IKN Authority, Bambang Susantono, also received ADB's support because he was considered to have a lot of experience and knowledge in creating an inclusive and carbon-neutral city. "We are grateful for ADB's support, and this is in line with our efforts to start the development of the archipelago," said Susantono.
