Tebet Eco Park Visitors Might Be Required to Use an App to Check in

TheIndonesia.id - Jakarta provincial government has said it’s considering the use of an app for future visitors of Tebet Eco Park in South Jakarta, so the number of people in the park can be closely monitored and controlled.

Deputy governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the innovation can be useful to help authorities prevent dense crowds in the area.

“Next, we’re evaluating [the park’s operational], and we’ll re-manage it to be better. Among the solutions, we might suggest the use of application for people to get there, so the number can be managed, controlled, and limited,” Patria said on Wednesday, June 15, as reported by Antara.

According to him, a re-management is urgent because the public seem to be hugely interested in visiting Tebet Eco Park, and it resulted in illegal parking as well as a boom in street vendors that disrupt the traffic and disturb residents who live nearby the park.

Previously, Jakarta government announced that it temporarily closed down Tebet Eco Park until the end of June, citing maintenance as the reason behind the decision.

Patria said, during the period, Jakarta government is also planning a parking area that is located a bit further from the park to avoid similar issue with local residents and traffic.

Stands and booths for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will also be made available around the park that is located in Jalan Tebet Barat Raya.

“In the future, parking on the side of the road and sidewalk vendors will be prohibited,” Patria confirmed.

While Tebet Eco Park is closed down, Jakarta authorities invite the public to visit other parks in the province as alternatives.
