TheIndonesia.id - Two Formula E races are planned to take place in Jakarta next year, the International Automobile Federation’s (FIA) schedule has revealed.
Based on the FIA’s calendar, not one but two races have been planned to be held on Formula E circuit in Ancol on June 3-4, 2022. Vice president communication of Jakarta Formula E’s organizing committee Iman Sjafei added that there’s also a possibility for a night race in Jakarta.
“[The FIA] has released its tentative calendar, so it’s up to us now. Also, two different races will be held on those two days, and there’s a possibility for a night race,” Sjafei said on Monday, July 4, as reported by Antara.
Despite the recent schedule that has been released, he said the organizing committee hasn’t made any decision and is currently studying the technical aspects, including ticket prices that will be different between a day and night race.
The final confirmation is expected to be announced before September this year.
“September will be the deadline for us to decide whether or not we’ll host the two races and if we’ll hold a night rice,” Sjafei confirmed.
Meanwhile, some adjustments are expected to be made to the organizing committee for 2023 event with Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) expected to join.
“It will be a new committee, but I have yet to find out whether the individuals will remain the same or if there will be new people because the last committee has been disbanded,” Sjafei concluded.
The Jakarta race of Formula E 2022 previously took place on June 4 in Ancol, North Jakarta.
