State-Owned PLN Will Prepare 70 Ultra Fast Charging Stations for G20 Summit

TheIndonesia.id - State-owned electricity company PT PLN said it will prepare 70 units of ultra fast charging stations (SPKLU) to support the G20 summit in Bali in November.

PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said the charging stations are intended for the electric vehicles (EV) used by state delegations during the event. He also revealed that preparation related to it had reached more than 50 percent at the end of June.

“As of now, the preparation has reached 56.32 percent, and we’re speeding up the process to ensure everything is safe and ready to use prior to the summit,” he said on Saturday, July 9, as reported by Antara.

Besides the ultra fast charging stations, PLN also builds 21 fast charging stations and 200 home charging stations in Bali.

According to Prasodjo, 26 ultra fast charging stations will be located at the Apurva Kempinski hotel, 38 units are going to be built at the Indonesia Tourism Development Coporation (ITDC) in Nusa Dua, and the remaining six units will be relocated to locations where they’re most needed.

Meanwhile, the 21 fast charging stations will be located across 15 locations in the island of Bali.

The Indonesian government has confirmed that electric cars, motorcycles, and buses will be deployed during the G20 summit, and it’s intended that the infrastructure will be utilized by locals and tourists in Bali once the event is over.

“This is also a proof that Indonesia is moving fast in energy transition, especially from fuel-powered cars to electric cars,” Prasodjo concluded.
