Indonesia Targets 5.3% Economic Growth in 2023: President Jokowi

TheIndonesia.id - Indonesia is targeting national economy to grow 5.3 percent next year, President Joko Widodo has said.

During his speech on Tuesday, August 16, the Indonesian leader said the government is optimistic that national economy will thrive next year as it predicted a 5.3-percent growth.

“Economic growth in 2023 is estimated at 5.3 percent. We will do our best to maintain the strengthening of national economy,” President Widodo said as he delivered draft state budget for fiscal year 2023.

He also reaffirmed that the Indonesian government will continue to push for more productions to create more job opportunities, consistently.

Furthermore, Widodo also emphasized the importance of massive structural reform to support economic transformation, including to create a good investment climate.

“Investment must be encouraged as well as the competitiveness of national manufacturing products at global market,” he remarked.

It is worth noting that 2023’s growth target is bigger compared to that of 2022 which was at 5.2 percent.
