TheIndonesia.id - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has announced a brigadier general as the perpetrator behind the shooting of several cats at the Indonesian Armed Forces Staff and Command School (Sesko TNI) in Bandung, West Java.

TNI spokesperson Prantara Santosa confirmed on Thursday, August 18, that Brig. Gen. NA shot a number of cats within the school’s area with his air rifle on Tuesday.

“[I can] confirm that Brig. Gen. NA shot several cats using his own air rifle on Tuesday afternoon, August 16, 2022, at about 1.00 p.m.,” he said in a statement, adding that the information was gathered from the school’s commander and TNI legal team.

The statement also disclosed that NA intentionally shot those cats to make the school area clean and comfortable and that the action was not motivated by hate.

“It wasn’t because [he] hated cats,” Santosa continued.

NA will be legally processed and could be charged with violation of the husbandry and animal health law.

Previously, as reported by Suara.com, Instagram user Rumah Singgah Clow (@rumahsinggahclow) posted a video showing two people checking on two dead cats that were allegedly shot.

“The bullet stuck in the head,” one person said in the video.

The Instagram user also revealed that the cats were located within the Sesko TNI area in Jalan Martanegara in Bandung. It was later reported that three pregnant cats were shot while other two cats survived with severe eye injuries.

West Java governor Ridwan Kamil commented on the Instagram post and said he would investigate the incident.
