TheIndonesia.id - A man opened fire at the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) office in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/2/2023). At least two people were injured and the suspect was found dead after the incident.
It remains unclear whether the suspect dead because of the police's shot after they immediately arrived at the scene. Central Jakarta Police Chief Officer Komarudin said the incident occurred at around 10:30 AM local time.
"The suspect has died," Komarudin said without mentioning the details.
"Officers are still conducting the crime scene investigation and questioning witnesses," he continued.
A gun was taken from the scene as evidence. A staffer at the building said the suspected shooter was a familiar face to people working in the building.
"His name is Mustofa, he routinely delivers letters to the office. He brought a gun today," said the staffer.
The attack injured two employees identified as Tri Suprianto and Nugrahadi Bambal.
