TheIndonesia.id - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested ten individuals in a sting operation conducted on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. The operation, known as Red-handed Catch Operation (OTT), was related to corruption in the procurement of goods and services.

The ten individuals were apprehended by KPK investigators for alleged bribery in the procurement of equipment used to search for victims buried in the debris at the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) during the 2023 fiscal year.

"We have an update from our colleagues that around ten individuals are currently at the Merah Putih Building of the KPK, undergoing investigation by the KPK team," said Ali Fikri, Head of the KPK Information Division, at the KPK C1 Building in Jakarta on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.

Ali could not provide detailed information about the case and the identities of those arrested. The KPK investigators are currently conducting interrogations with the ten individuals.

The KPK carried out the OTT at two locations, Cilangkap East Jakarta, and Jatisampurna Bekasi, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. During the operation, eight individuals were arrested, including Navy Lieutenant Colonel Adm Afri Budi Cahyanto.

Corruption in the Project of Debris Victim Detection Equipment

KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri previously stated that the OTT was related to suspected corruption in the procurement of goods and services at Basarnas.

"The arrests were made based on suspicions of corruption in the procurement of goods and services at Basarnas, specifically related to the procurement of equipment used to detect victims in debris," he said.

It was revealed that the alleged perpetrators received money in the form of fees from each project.

"The amount of the fee was 10 percent of the project's value," Firli stated.

During the arrests, the KPK also seized a significant amount of cash and evidence.

"The evidence confiscated includes cash, and the exact amount will be disclosed during the press conference," Firli stated.
