Indonesian Navy to Build 96 Kitchens for Nutritious Meals for Students

TheIndonesia.id - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is set to establish 96 kitchens across the country, aimed at providing free, nutritious meals for elementary, junior high, and high school students. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali revealed the plan while overseeing a meal distribution event at SMA 1 Hang Tuah in Cipulir.

"This initiative is expected to be implemented within a few months," Admiral Ali shared, according to Antara News Agency. The 96 kitchens are part of a broader government programme focused on ensuring children have access to proper nutrition.

In collaboration with the National Nutrition Agency or Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN), the Navy will ensure the kitchens meet all necessary standards. BGN will also monitor food preparation processes to maintain quality.

The cost per meal, set by the government, will range from Rp10,000 to Rp15,000, covering both operational and food costs. Currently, 10 kitchens are already in operation, including one at the Naval Staff and Command School (Seskoal) in Cipulir. These kitchens, staffed by a combination of school and local cooks, can serve up to 3,000 portions daily.

The meals are distributed to eight nearby schools, with plans to expand to more schools as additional kitchens are built. Admiral Ali expressed hope that all 96 kitchens will soon be operational, significantly impacting student nutrition nationwide.
