TheIndonesia.id - President Prabowo Subianto has expressed readiness to host Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Jakarta for the annual Indonesia-Malaysia consultation, set for 2025.
According to Antara News Agency, this consultation, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, will also focus on Malaysia's ASEAN chairmanship. Prabowo affirmed support for Malaysia's leadership in ASEAN, emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation between the two nations.
He noted that Indonesia and Malaysia share deep cultural, religious, and linguistic ties, which are crucial for regional stability and progress.
Amid global uncertainty, Prabowo stressed the need for ASEAN, with its 600 million people, to compete for greater global recognition, particularly in comparison to the European Union.
The annual consultation mechanism, which last took place in 2017, will guide the future direction of the countries’ relations.
Malaysia's role as ASEAN chair will involve hosting over 300 meetings and programmes this year.
