TheIndonesia.id - Indonesia Spice Up the World (ISUTW) is a collaborative program from ministries/ agencies, the business world, academia, associations, communities, and the media to promote Indonesian cuisine to foreign markets. This program targets an export value of US$2 billion and 4,000 Indonesian restaurants overseas by 2024.
Another target is to promote superior products of local Indonesian brands of herbs and spices to the global market. Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Maritime Affairs, and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan hopes that the ISUTW Program can spur the development of Indonesian restaurant chains overseas, which are part of Indonesian gastrodiplomacy.
"Through the addition and reactivation of Indonesian-flavored restaurants abroad, it will certainly increase exports of processed food, especially Indonesian seasoning, and spice products," he said in a press release received by Antara, Monday, March 21, 2022.
Various types of Indonesian specialties have been introduced and served at various activities abroad, ranging from five national dishes, namely rendang, fried rice, satay, Soto, and Gado-gado as the culinary powerhouse of the archipelago, including sweet soy sauce. These five types of food certainly cannot be separated from the concoction of Indonesian seasoning and spice products contained in them. The targeted spices are pepper, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and vanilla.
The government also took advantage of the Mandalika MotoGP event which took place yesterday for this campaign regarding ISUTW. The racers received gifts of traditional Indonesian cooking spices and drinks. More about ISUTW, can be seen at https://sutw.gapmmi.id/.
