TheIndonesia.id - For many Indonesians living abroad, finding dishes from back home is like finding a treasure since food can always be one of the few things to help people living in another country to feel more like home.
And for Indonesians in Los Angeles, the Unites States, a delicious nasi bungkus (mixed rice) from Bali can be the perfect cure for homesickness.
Indonesian actress Nikita Willy is among those that has been craving some foods from home.
The 28-year-old has been living in Los Angeles, and during her quest to find Indonesian dishes, she found Balinese mixed rice on the menu.
In one of her Youtube videos, she talked about trying out the food.
“There are Indonesian foods here: nasi bungkus, Balinese street food, sambal, layer cake, and others,” Willy said in the video.
She commented that even though the taste is quite different from how they are in Indonesia, she quite enjoyed her meal.
“It’s enough to cure my homesickness. It doesn’t taste exactly like the one in Bali, but they’re delicious.”
As the name suggests, Balinese mixed rice typically consists of rice with different dishes that include meats and vegetables – as well as other menus that can be added to the mix.
It’s a famous dish in Bali, and most vendors will sell the food wrapped in banana leaf.
