TheIndonesia.co - Big cities and favorite tourist cities are back in demand as tourist destinations this Lunar New Year, according to data announced by digital travel platform Agoda.
Through its official statement published by Antara news agency, Agoda said that metropolitan cities and capital cities are the top choices of destinations, including Shanghai in China, Tokyo in Japan, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Manila in the Philippines, and Bangkok in Thailand.
While in other countries, classic tourist destinations are the main choice for tourists such as Bali in Indonesia, Jeju Island in Korea, Taichung in Taiwan, and Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The findings are based on Agoda's booking data with a comparison of check-in dates on the first day of Chinese New Year on February 1, 2022, and February 12, 2021.
Agoda sees emerging destination trends in different countries as travelers continue to travel domestically and explore their own 'backyard'. Agoda's data also shows several new destinations on the list of eight popular places, including Berastagi (Indonesia) and Hongcheon-gun (Korea), Nantou (Taiwan), the coastal city of Quy Nhon (Vietnam), to Kota Kinabalu (Malaysia).
