TheIndonesia.id - Automotive observer and academic from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Yannes Martinus Pasaribu, analyzed that the electric vehicle market will be more vibrant in 2022. This is in line with various educational efforts launched by the government and automotive manufacturers, pushed by the public interest in new technologies.
"Another trend that seems to be starting to increase is the tendency to buy hybrid vehicles and two-wheeled and four-wheeled electric vehicles (BEVs) which will increase slowly in early 2022," Yannes Martinus Pasaribu told ANTARA on Monday, November 29, 2021.
In this scenario, the government's role is very important to increase the circulation of environmentally friendly vehicles. He hopes the government can set an example by using electric vehicles as a daily operational fleet.
This call was also made by the President's Chief of Staff, Moeldoko, at the opening of the Indonesia Electric Motor Show in Serpong. Moeldoko said the government should use electric vehicles to set an example for the market, as well as prove that electric vehicles have a capable cruising range for operations in several locations in Indonesia.
"Support from the government to create market potential by using electric vehicles, as official or operational vehicles. This is like what the Ministry of Transportation has started," he said.
Furthermore, Moeldoko advised electric vehicles should also be adopted by public transport service providers. The use of electric vehicles for public transportation opens up opportunities for people to get closer and experience electric cars firsthand.
"Expansion to other ministries is also necessary, and reaching out to public transportation is also very necessary," he explained.
The use of electric vehicles pioneered by the government and the public transportation sector will strengthen the confidence of investors to invest in Indonesia. Thus, the price of electric cars in the future will be more affordable due to a promising market and the availability of components produced in the country.
