TheIndonesia.co - Qatari oil and gas contractor, MontD'Or Oil Tungkal Limited (MOTL), has resumed drilling the MGH-47 (MGH-B1) well in the Mengeopeh Field, Tungkal Block, Jambi Province, on December 19, 2021.
"In the Mengeopeh Field, two development wells will be drilled, namely the MGH-47 and MGH-D wells. The drilling activity will continue with the drilling of two more wells in the Pematang Lantih Field (PLT), namely the PLT-12 well and the PLT-13 well," said Head of Exploration Division Special Taskforce for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migas) Surya Widyantoro in his statement in Jakarta, Monday, December 20, 2021.
The drilling activity was carried out using a 750 horsepower Vinct-01 rig with a total drilling plan of 1,268 mMD in the upper and lower Talang Akar layers as drilling objectives. The drilling series begins with conductor driving followed by drilling 12-1/4 inch holes, installing 9-5/8 inch casings, drilling 8-1/2 inch holes to TD, open-hole logging activities, and installing 7-inch casings.
Then, drilling activities are continued with the installation of a series of completions. Surya conveyed that development drilling activities in the Mengopeh and Pematang Latih Fields require 25 operational days for each well with an additional production target of 145 barrels of oil per day for each well.

"The drilling activities for these four wells are targeted to be completed in May 2022," said Surya.
Head of the Program and Communications Division of SKK Migas Rinto Pudyantoro added that the effort to drill four new wells is an implementation of the 2021 work program and budget (WP&B) in order to provide support for increasing oil and gas lifting.
"We encourage all contractors of cooperation contract (KKKS) to realize the program that has been agreed in the WP&B to carry out drilling to maintain national oil and gas lifting," he said.
As of December 10, 2021, of the 444 wells that have been drilled, as many as 342 wells have been onstream. "In the remaining time, we will continue to coordinate with KKKS to complete the target of drilling development wells because it will contribute to the achievement of oil and gas lifting in 2022," said Rinto.
"In addition, various steps are being taken to encourage all wells that have been steeped to be onstream as soon as possible in order to provide an optimal entry-level entering 2022 as our effort so that the lifting target for 2022 can be met," he added.
The government has granted an extension of the cooperation contract (KKS) with a gross split scheme in the Tungkal Working Area for 20 years to KKKS MontD'Or Oil Tungkal Ltd in November 2018 and will be effective on August 26, 2022.
