Indonesia is among the countries to have recently recorded a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases, but people are told to not panic and exaggerate.
TheIndonesia.id - Bandung COVID-19 Task Force said it has vaccinated all of its adults with at least the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
City secretary Ema Surmarna said according to report on December 19, the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine has been given to 1,956,190 people in Bandung while the vaccination target is 1,952,358 people.
“We have exceeded the target and are currently at 100.20 percent. Meanwhile, the second dose of vaccination is currently at 88.70 percent,” Sumarna said in Bandung on Monday, December 20.
She said the achievement is the result of collective efforts to reach the 100 percent rate before 2022.
As for the second dose of vaccination, she said a number of challenges persist, including clashing agenda between second dose vaccination schedule and public’s daily activities.
“There has been no issue with the vaccine itself, but rather on the scheduling. Oftentimes, people have other things on their agenda at the same time they’re supposed to be vaccinated. It’s all up to them whether to consider this a priority or not,” Sumarna explained.
Lastly, the city official added the current COVID-19 situation in the West Java’s capital is considerably under control, with bed occupancy rate of around 5 percent. She also confirmed that no Omicron case has been detected in the territory and asked everyone to stay on track in implementing necessary health protocols.
“Omicron hasn’t been found today – and hopefully never. But the most important thing is for people to follow health protocols rigorously,” she concluded.
