TheIndonesia.co - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said there was an increase in tourism investment in 2021 by Rp. 14.9 trillion ($1 billion) and contributed to national investment by 3.36 percent.
"This is an achievement that I am proud of," he said at the hybrid year-end 2021 press conference, Jakarta, Monday, December 27, 2021.
Foreign direct investment (PMA) reached Rp. 2.94 trillion from several countries of origin, which is Singapore at Rp. 1,494.49 billion, the United Kingdom at Rp. 202.26 billion, and France at Rp. 144.74 billion. The investments were for several types of businesses namely star hotels Rp. 1,335.31 billion, restaurants and foodservice providers Rp. 754.75 billion, and the provision of other short-term accommodations Rp. 468.21 billion.
The top three destinations for FDI were Jakarta Rp1,083.86 billion, Bali Rp716.40 billion, and West Nusa Tenggara Rp410.35 billion.

While domestic investment was recorded reaching Rp. 11.96 trillion, went to star hotels Rp. 6,508.18 billion, tourism areas Rp. 2,860.11 billion, and the provision of beverages Rp. 882.33 billion. Then the three largest destinations for domestic investments were Banten Rp. 2,512.80 billion, DKI Rp. 1,902.22 billion, and East Java Rp. 1,511.49 billion.
Sandiaga Uno also conveyed that tourism value is predicted to touch the figure of $0.47-1.7 billion in 2022. The contribution of gross domestic product is estimated to reach 4.3 percent, then the export value of creative economy products worth 21.28 billion US dollars.

“The number of foreign tourists is always what we are after. But this time, when we see the number in 2020 that reached 4.05 million people, in 2021 it is estimated that 1.5 million people. Next year we will focus on 1.8-3.6 million," said Uno.
Next year, Government relies on domestic tourists which are targeted to touch 260-280 million movements next year, and the creative economy added value reaches Rp1,236 trillion.
"(This) makes Indonesia now in the third position in the world after America with Hollywood and South Korea with K-pop (in terms of creative economy)," he said.
