TheIndonesia.co - National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has integrated research and development tasks and functions from 919 research units in 74 ministries/agencies. Head of BRIN, Laksana Tri Handoko, said that the R&D tasks and functions would be merged into 12 Research Organizations (OR) and 85 Research Centers (PR) under BRIN.
"From the proposals for 18 ORs and 104 PRs that we have submitted, approval has been given to 12 ORs and 85 PRs," said Handoko in a written statement received by ANTARA in Jakarta, Monday, January 31, 2022.
He said that Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform helped accelerate the finalization of OR and PR within BRIN. Currently, it has been approved and is in the drafting process at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
For the establishment of research centers and research organizations, BRIN has started to map human resources (HR), especially research HR. In addition, BRIN will open registration for open selection in a special network of OR heads and PR heads with two stages, namely the stage of ranking based on administrative fulfillment and track records, and the interview stage.
On the other hand, BRIN has completed assets transfer from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ministry of Health, and the Attorney General's Office. The human resources transfer will be carried out as of February 1, 2022. After that, will soon follow assets transfer from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
BRIN was formed based on Presidential Regulation Number 78 of 2021, which mandates the integration of all research institutions in Indonesia. Integration of five main research entities, namely the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the National Nuclear Energy Agency (Batan), the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (Lapan), the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), and the Ministry of Research and Technology/BRIN into BRIN has been conducted on September 1, 2021. After that BRIN integration has been carried out on December 16, 2021, in which 28 R&D work units from K/L have joined.
