TheIndonesia.id - The Ministry of Religious Affairs has confirmed that it will soon issue the adjusted guidelines for religious activities and gatherings as Indonesia eased COVID-related restrictions.

Director general of Islamic education Kamaruddin Amin said the Ministry will make changes on the currently applicable policies regulating religious activities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the new rules will be announced soon.

“Minister of Religious Affairs’ circular letter on religious activities in places of worships will be issued soon,” Amin said on Friday, March 11, as reported by Antara.

The Ministry has previously issued a number of regulations related to religious activities and gatherings to ensure the implementation of health protocols in places of worship during pandemic. The adjustments and changes were made in accordance to the latest COVID-19 development in Indonesia.

However, the Indonesian government have started to lift a number of restrictions, including waiving mandatory COVID-19 tests for domestic travelers. In addition, public are now also allowed to enter sports arenas.

Even though rules on activities in places of worship will also inevitably change, Amin asked the public to remain strict in carrying out the necessary health protocols, as COVID-19 hasn’t entirely left the country.

“We have to be aware that COVID-19 is still among us,” he said. “We have to implement the health protocols – always wear a mask.”
