TheIndonesia.id - At least 25 festivals and parades are set to take place in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) this year to entertain both domestic and international tourists that are coming to the province as Indonesia reopens its doors and revives its tourism industry.
Head of NTT’s tourism and creative economy office Zet Sony Libing said the dozens of tourism events are expected to promote NTT’s tourism potential and trigger the growth of local economy.
“There are at least 25 tourism events that will be held this year to massively promote tourisms and attract more tourists – as well as to drive people’s economy forward,” Libing said on Friday, March 25, as reported by Antara.
In funding and organizing the events, he said regional governments will be supported by the central government. There will be five central government-backed events and five provincial government-backed event, while the remainder will be organized by regency/municipal governments.
Besides accelerating tourism revival in the province, Libing said local small businesses will also benefit from the initiative. Local entrepreneurs and small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) will have the platform to promote and sell their products, and these festivals and parades can eventually trigger business growth.
“SMEs can surely sell their products, such as coffee, woven fabric, culinary products, handicrafts, and others, more,” Libing said.
Lastly, he added that to make sure the events are optimally organized, regional governments are also working to prepare the supporting sectors and industries.
“Hotel, homestay, SMEs, travel package, and locals are all being prepared to help tourists enjoy their stay,” he concluded.
