Child Prostitution Dismantled in Jakarta, 9 Minors Rescued

TheIndonesia.id - The Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) uncovered an online prostitution practice involving several minors at an inn in  Cengkareng area, West Jakarta, Tuesday morning at 03.00 WIB. Nine minors were rescued that morning.

"Yes, there is something that the Polda Metro Jaya team has secured," said the Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya, Police Commissioner Endra Zulpan, confirming the case, Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

Polda Metro Jaya through the Sub-directorate of Youth, Children, and Women (Renakta) of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation succeeded in securing dozens of people and nine of them were underage women suspected of being employed as commercial sex workers (CSWs) in the raid.

However, Zulpan has not explained further whether the team that carried out the raid also picked up the pimps involved. "I haven't said it yet, it was just arrested last night," he said.

Several pieces of evidence were also confiscated by officers during the arrest, including contraceptives, cell phones (cell phones), and screenshots of conversations from several cell phones. The dozens of people were then taken to the Polda Metro Jaya for data collection and examination.

Meanwhile, the children and women suspected of being employed as prostitutes were then entrusted to the Integrated Service Center for the Empowerment of Women and Children (P2TP2A).
