Apart from Bakrie, two other private companies are cooperating with PLN, namely PT Dipa Jaya Sejahtera and PT Syntek Automation Indonesia.
The operation of the PLTS was inaugurated by the Regent of the Selayar Islands Muhammad Basli Ali and the General Manager of PLN for the Sulselbar Region, Awaluddin Hafid, in Selayar, Friday, April 15, 2022.
"The construction of PLTS, which is a new and renewable energy (EBT) generator, is a form of PLN's commitment to entering the energy transition to green energy," said PLN's Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua, and Nusa Tenggara Regional Business Director Adi Priyanto in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
In his online remarks, Adi said that the PLTS development is expected to be a trigger for the development of innovation in improving the quality of electricity services, especially in island areas.
Awaluddin Hafid revealed that the 1.3-megawatt peak (MWp) PLTS Hybrid Selayar is the largest and the cutting edge in South Sulawesi. According to him, the PLTS Hybrid which was built on an area of 1.46 hectares requires an investment of IDR 39.5 billion.
Hafid added that shortly PLN will build similar PLTS in four sub-districts in the Selayar Islands, namely Pasilambena, Pasimasunggu, Takabonerate, and Pasimarannu.
Reduce Carbon Emission
The Hybrid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Selayar Regency, South Sulawesi can reduce carbon emissions by up to 1,400 tons of CO2 per year. Hafid said that apart from contributing to reducing carbon emissions, the operation of PLTS in the Selayar Island electricity system could save operational costs of up to IDR 16.5 billion per year.
"The main thing is to reduce the use of fossil energy and reduce carbon emissions," said Hafid.
The largest PLTS in South Sulawesi, said Hafid, would increase the new renewable energy mix, as well as support Indonesia's commitment as the host of the G20 Summit to achieving zero carbon emissions by 2060. The operation of the Selayar Hybrid PLTS was marked by the inauguration and signing of the inscription by the Regent of Selayar Islands, H Muh Basli Ali and Hafid. This activity was also witnessed by the Director of PLN Regional Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara, Adi Priyanto, online.
The Regent of Selayar, Muh Basli Ali, expressed his gratitude for the presence of PLTS Selayar in supporting the reliability of the electricity system in the islands of South Sulawesi. "I represent the people of Selayar to thank PLN. This is the blessing of Ramadan, Selayar has islands that are separated from other lands. Therefore, with the presence of this PLTS, we hope to support the community's economic activities," said Basli Ali.
