TheIndonesia.id - Indonesia’s COVID-19 Task Force has announced that Tarempa Port in Anambas Islands, Riau Islands province, has reopened for international arrivals as more people are traveling to return to their hometown to spend the holy month of Ramadan and celebrate Idul Fitri.
The Task Force’s spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito said the reopening is expected to help the homecoming (mudik) tradition becomes safer to prevent a surge of COVID-19 cases post-holiday. And it’s regulated in the latest addendum to the Task Force’s circular letter that took effect on Tuesday, April 19.
“The policy regulates a number of new rules to create a safe and healthy mudik period,” Adisasmito said.
The addendum also requires antigen test for arrivals from Singapore, and they also have to be fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, for domestic travelers, COVID tests for children aged six to 17 is waived if they’re double-jabbed. However, if the children are only partially vaccinated, they’re required to show the result of PCR tests taken no more than three days.
As of Tuesday, more than 163 million of Indonesians are fully vaccinated while 31,860,639 people have received their booster shots.
The Task Force also reported 837 new confirmed cases and 34 deaths.
