TheIndonesia.id - President Director of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI Royke Tumilaar emphasized that the company is ready to be diluted if Sea Limited will take a portion of Bank Mayora's share ownership. BNI is ready to reduce its ownership in this private bank.
"Currently Sea Limited is not yet a shareholder. But at certain times we are open to dilution from around 60 percent to 50 percent," said Tumilaar in the Public Expose for the first quarter of 2022 in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Thus Sea Limited has officially become BNI's technology partner in acquiring Bank Mayora. According to him, the owner of the Shopee marketplace is now involved in the preparation of Bank Mayora's capital business.
"The acquisition has been completed. Now we are making preparations for the development of Bank Mayora's business," said Royke Tumilaar.
Tumilaar said that Sea Limited has also been involved in designing technology and information for Bank Mayora. "The team has been formed and has worked both in Indonesia and abroad, we are building the technology," he said.
Previously, Tumilaar said that the Bank Mayora's acquisition was not only about acquiring a bank but also about looking for technology partners who would help for better penetration. The technology company, which will become BNI's partner in developing Bank Mayora into a digital bank, will also help to mitigate the volatility or risk of MSMEs properly.
"This will help for better penetration and the volatility or risk of MSMEs can be properly mitigated. Because conventional banks, on average, are too aggressive, the costs are high,” said Royke Tumilaar.
