TheIndonesia.id - A search and rescue team has successfully evacuated three foreign nationals from Aceh waters after their boat experienced engine failure and couldn’t continue sailing.

SAR team in Aceh Jaya regency confirmed that the three people had been rescued, and they were in good condition.

“The three foreign nationals have successfully been evacuated from Pulau Raya waters. The three of them were in good condition despite being slightly panicked,” head of Aceh Jaya SAR task force Mirza Safrinadi announced on Wednesday, April 27, as reported by Antara.

In addition to the SAR team, the evacuation process also involved the Sea and Coast Guard (KPLP) and the transportation office.

Safrinadi said one of the three foreigners is Australian while the other two came from Africa. However, they said they had been staying in Bali for a while.

According to Safrinadi, the rescue team used motor boat owned by local fisherman to pull the failing boat. After being evacuated to Calang bay, the rescuees were then taken to Teuku Umar Hospital in Aceh Jaya regency for medical assessment.

They have reportedly completed their medical check-up and are currently waiting for the boat to be repaired to continue their trip.

It was previously reported that three foreign nationals were adrift at Sampoiniet waters after the engine of their sailing boat failed.

Chief of Aceh Jaya police confirmed the boat is called SY Red Moon and is Australian-flagged.

“If we refer to map, the boat was in Pulau Raya Lhok Kruet, Aceh Jaya regency. Based on information, the three of them sailed from Sabang,” chief of Sampoiniet police Pol. Second Inspector Wahyudi revealed.
