TheIndonesia.id - Indonesia’s COVID-19 Task Force has revealed that only 27.2 percent of senior citizens across the country have received COVID-19 booster shot.
The Task Force’s spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito said while more than three-fourths of seniors are fully vaccinated, the number of those who have been administered with the booster dose is still low.
“For senior citizens, the figure for full vaccination is 79 percent and for booster is 27.2 percent,” Adisasmito said on Wednesday, April 27, as reported by Antara.
Meanwhile, 90.4 percent of children aged 12 to 17 have been fully vaccinated, and 2.5 percent have received booster shot.
Adisasmito also revealed vaccination rate in five provinces that are the biggest mudik destinations this year.
About 23.5 million people, or 27.5 percent of the total Indonesians who go on mudik trips this year, are expected to head to Central Java, and the province’s booster rate is currently at 17.5 percent.
Meanwhile, 16.8 million Indonesians are predicated to return to East Java to celebrate Idul Fitri, and the province’s booster rate is now at 14.2 percent.
West Java (excluding Greater Jakarta area) has 32.3 percent booster rate and is expected to welcome 14.7 million returning residents.
The booster rate in Greater Jakarta, which includes Jakarta and its satellite cities, is 32.2 percent, and about 5.9 million Indonesians are predicted to head to the region during this mudik period.
Lastly, 3.9 million Indonesians are heading to Yogyakarta which currently has 29.1 percent booster rate.
Only two out of the five provinces have met the minimum booster target of 30 percent, and the Task Force’s spokesperson warned the remaining provinces to speed up booster administration to prevent another surge of cases post-holiday.
