TheIndonesia.co - The Indonesian government has added 12 countries to the subject of Visa on Arrival (VoA) or a visit visa on special arrivals for tourism which was previously only intended for citizens of 60 countries. The countries included in the addition are Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco, Oman, Peru, Russia, Serbia, Ukraine, and Jordan.
"This time there are 12 additional countries, but there are no additions or changes to immigration checkpoints that serve VoA," said Sub-Coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) Achmad Nur Saleh in a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday, May 31, 2022.
Citizens from 72 countries that are subject to a special VoA for tourism can enter Indonesia through nine airports, 11 seaports, and four cross-border posts. This is regulated in the Circular of the Director General of Immigration number IMI-0603.GR.01.01 2022 dated 28 April 2022 regarding immigration facilities in order to support sustainable tourism during the 2019 coronavirus disease pandemic.
Achmad Nur Saleh explained that to obtain a visa-free special tourist visit or a visit visa upon arrival for special tours, every foreigner must show a valid nationality passport. The passport, he said, must be valid for at least six months.

Then they also need to show a return or pass ticket to continue their journey to another country. This includes proof of VoA payment and proof of insurance ownership in an Indonesian legal entity which includes health financing as long as the foreigner is in Indonesian territory.
He stated that the visit visa fee for special tourist arrivals is IDR 50,000 under Government Regulation No. 28 of 2019. Meanwhile, for an extension, a fee of IDR 500 thousand will be charged.
Regarding the residence permit originating from a visit visa on special tourist arrivals, it can be extended once for a period of 30 days at the immigration office according to the area of residence of foreign nationals while in Indonesia.
Achmad emphasized that the residence permit from being free of a special tourist visit visa or a visit visa upon arrival for a special tour cannot be transferred. The holder is not allowed to apply for an extension of a residence permit through the granting of an onshore visa or an extension of a permit to stay longer in Indonesia where the condition is that a foreign citizen is still in Indonesia.
In addition, he appealed to foreigners and tourism industry players to comply with every immigration rule. It also includes the inn or hotel management who is obliged to provide information or data about foreigners staying overnight to facilitate supervision of them.
"Foreigners who are proven to have misused their residence permits will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
