Gov't Revokes Permit of All Holywings Outlets in Jakarta

TheIndonesia.id - The Jakarta government has revoked the permit of 12 Holywings bars and nightclubs across the province, citing incomplete documents as the reason behind the decision.

The One-Stop Integrated Service and Investment Agency (DPMPTSP) in Jakarta said the decision was based on findings and recommendations by the province’s tourism and creative economy office as well as the industry, trade, cooperatives, and SMEs office (DPPKUKM).

“In accordance with the governor’s direction to act firmly, based on regulations, and to [create] deterrent [effects], based on the recommendation of two regional apparatus organizations, we revoked the permit of 12 Holywings outlets in Jakarta,” head of DPMPTSP Jakarta Benny Agus Chandra confirmed on Monday, June 27, as reported by Antara.

Head of Jakarta’s tourism and creative economy office Andhika Permata said his office had carried out field inspection along with DPPKUKM, DPMPTSP, and the municipal police, and it resulted in the finding of several violations that became the basis for the revocation.

This includes the discovery that some Holywings outlets in Jakarta didn’t have the KBLI 56301 certification which is a required standard for businesses that serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

Furthermore, Holywings was also found to only be certified to serve alcohol takeaway but not dine-in service. However, based on the offices’ field assessment, Holywings allows dine-in at its outlets.

The recommendations also became the basis for DPMPTSP to propose the revocation of permit to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) – which is expected to be implemented soon.

Previously, Holywings created controversy after making a promotional campaign to offer free alcoholic beverages for customers who are named with religious names Muhammad and Maria.

It quickly sparked reactions as both names are religious names and deemed sacred among Muslims and Christians.

The group’s management later posted their apology in an Instagram post, saying the management board wasn’t made aware of the promotion prior to it being aired, and that the promotional team had been penalized.
