TheIndonesia.id - The Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali has revealed that President Joko Widodo wants to build football training center and advanced sports facilities and infrastructures in new capital Nusantara to support the plan to bid for 2036 Summer Olympics.
Amali said the President is planning to be establish a football training camp and build quality sports facilities in Nusantara as he wants to see the new capital hosting the Olympics in 2036.
“After witnessing the progress of national football, he asked [Indonesian Football Association] PSSI chairman [Mochamad Iriawan] and I to immediately build a complete football training camp in new capital Nusantara,” Amali said in a statement on Wednesday, August 3.
Furthermore, the Indonesian government also seeks to build various sports facilities as it eyes an opportunity to launch bid to host the 2036 Olympics.
“Previously, [President Widodo] also informed me [about the plan] to bid to host 2036 Olympics and that the proposal would mention that it would be held in the new capital,” the Minister revealed.
PSSI chairman Iriawan, who was also present at the occasion, said the Indonesian FA is thankful that the state leader has a plan to build a football training ground that will positively impact the development of national football.
“This is what the public is waiting for. I thank the President for the attention paid to football, and I’m optimistic that Indonesian football will continue improving,” Iriawan concluded.
