TheIndonesia.id - The National Police Special Team (Timsus) has yet to reveal the motive of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat or Brigadier J killing carried out by the suspects at the official house of then-Head of the Professional and Security Division of Inspector General of Police Ferdy Sambo at the Duren Tiga Police Complex, South Jakarta. National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in a press conference handling the case of Brigadier J at the National Police Headquarters, Tuesday night, said the team is still investigating the motive for the shooting.
"Regarding the motive, investigations are currently being carried out on the witnesses and also on Madam Putri. So at this time, we cannot conclude, "said Sigit.
Madam Putri is Putri Candrawati, wife of Ferdy Sambo. The initial information allegedly fabricated by Ferdy was that Brigadier J sexually abused his wife.
However, said the National Police Chief, the investigation carried out by the National Police Timsus revealed that the actual incident was a shooting, not a shootout as reported earlier in the incident. "What is certain is that this is the main trigger for the killing for what, in conclusion, the team is currently working," he said. The result of the Timsus investigation was that Brigadier J was murdered.
Likewise, reports of alleged abuse against Candrawati are being investigated by investigators. According to the former Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police, information from experts and adjustments to the statements of witnesses are needed to reveal reports of the alleged abuse.
"Regarding the motive, we have said that the investigation is still ongoing, and of course, it requires information from experts in addition to the adjustment of witnesses," he said.
The National Police Team has named four suspects in the case of Brigadier J's murder, namely Bharada Richard Eliezer Pudihang Lumiu or Bharada E, Chief Brigadier Ricky Rizal or RR, Kuwat or KM, and Inspector General of Police Ferdy Sambo.
The four suspects were charged with Article 340 of the Criminal Code regarding premeditated murder, subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Article 55 and Article 56 with a maximum penalty of death, life imprisonment, or maximum imprisonment of 20 years.
