Daikin Builds USD 225 Million Air Conditioning Factory in Bekasi

TheIndonesia.id - PT Daikin Industries Indonesia built an air conditioning factory located at Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC) Industrial Parks Bekasi worth IDR 3.3 trillion or USD 225 million with a production capacity of 1.5 million units per year. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita praises this investment from the AC manufacturer.

“This is a very appropriate step for Daikin, which is the market leader for AC products in Indonesia, to invest in the country. I encourage other big brands to follow Daikin's movement to immediately have production facilities in Indonesia, both to meet the needs of the domestic and export markets," said the Minister of Industry in a statement in Jakarta, Saturday, September 3, 2022.

Daikin's new factory will produce household air conditioning in semester II-2024. Through this investment, it is estimated that Daikin will be able to absorb 1,600-2,500 workers.

In line with the AC investment from Daikin, the Minister of Industry said that Indonesia has a very large market potential for AC products, both for households and commercial. Moreover, Daikin is a big brand with the title of market leader for the AC market in Indonesia. Of course, this is the right step for Daikin and other big brands to invest and produce in Indonesia immediately.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) of the Ministry of Industry, Taufiek Bawazier, emphasized the seriousness of the Ministry of Industry in maintaining the investment climate so that it continues to develop and can keep the trade balance of the electronics sector.

"This target can be done through one of the instruments in the form of a Commodity Balance (NK) for electronic products including air conditioners which will be implemented in the coming year," he said.

Currently, a number of companies from PT. Daikin Global group in Indonesia has been producing, namely PT Daikin Manufacturing Indonesia with the production of ducting type AC (more than 5 HP) and Air Handling Units (AHU).
