TheIndonesia.id - The Indonesian government lifted all of the Covid-19 restrictions on December 30th, 2022, as the country is inching toward an endemic phase.

Removing the public activity restriction (PPKM) means that the use of face masks and PeduliLindungi tracing apps are no longer mandatory but advisable, particularly when using a public facility in a crowded area. Before lifting the PPKM, most mobility restrictions had already been removed for at least one booster vaccine shot, but authorities required wearing masks indoors and using PeduliLindungi tracing app in public spaces.

The Ministry of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, stated that the government will not add additional rules after removing the PPKM restriction.

"In implementing the lifting of PPKM restriction, the administration will not intervene the rules... There are no plans to change the restriction rules, but we even reduce the rules," Budi said at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday, January 2nd, 2023, as reported by Antara.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo announced the lifting of the PPKM restriction based on the Instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 50 and 51 of 2022.

The rule was implemented on December 30th, 2022, making the use of the PeduliLindungi tracing application in the public space no longer required.

The administration assessed that Indonesians' immunity toward Covid-19 is high based on the medical assessment.

Previously, President Jokowi stated that 98.5 percent of the population (with 448, 525, 478 doses) have been vaccinated according to zero surveys, a study aimed at seeing the Indonesian population that has antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
