TheIndonesia.id - Press companies are encouraged to implement special strategies in order to survive as a media industry.
Vice Minister of Communications and Informatics Nezar Patria said there are four strategic steps that can be implemented in showing sustainable media in the era of technological disruption.
"First, this has been proposed a lot, a multi-platform business model by presenting news content on several platforms at the same time," said Nezar Patria when attended the Local Media Summit (LMS) 2024 held by Suara.com at Hotel Sultan, Jakarta, last week.
The second strategy, Mr Patria continued, is to present specific and interesting news content. Third, there can be diversification and presentation of quality content. And finally, using the latest technology (i.e. artificial intelligence or AI) in media operational activities.
"The implementation of those steps can be done through several ways. For example, the media can adopt AI and 5G networks to improve connectivity," continued the Vice Minister.
He said that the 5G internet network is currently being developed by the government under the name 5G Broadcast. Such technology has been tested during the world's biggest sports event, namely the Olympics in Paris.
"So we can enjoy it technologically directly through the smartphone that we have or the 5G network that we can access. And of course there will be changes in the pattern of content production in the future, and also (on) how to manage that content effectively," he said.
Therefore, Mr Patria said, it is important for the media to adapt and innovate to the development of technology. So that the media leaders can create a sustainable business model to maintain quality journalism.
"There are many things that can be done, including the upgrade of journalists who always have to continue learning, upskilling, reskilling, etc. How to innovate content is very important," he concluded.
