In the digital era, the media must consider the impact of the use of algorithms and artificial intelligence in the reporting process, such as in data collection and information dissemination," said the Press Council Chairperson, Ninik Rahayu in the Local Media Summit (LMS) 2024 event at Hotel Sultan, Jakarta, early October.
Rahayu said it is important for journalists to always verify the source of information, and avoid the spread of fake news that can be exacerbated by algorithms.
She also suggested the need for training on the ethics of using technology, as well as collaborating with technology experts to understand the implications of using these tools. Because that way, the media that produces journalistic products can still be trusted in providing information.
