TheIndonesia.co - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that total transactions from the nationwide year-end buy local campaign, which took place from December 20 to December 29, 2024, amounted to Rp25.4 trillion (around US$1.58 billion).
The transaction value for this year's Belanja di Indonesia Aja (BINA) Diskon 2024 campaign increased by 15 percent compared to last year's campaign, which raised Rp22 trillion (US$1.36 billion).
"The increase showed high enthusiasm among the people for this discount program as well as its effectiveness in triggering economic activities," Hartarto noted in his written statement on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara.
He highlighted that the agenda is a joint government-private initiative to bolster domestic consumption, strengthen the value of local products, and make Indonesia an attractive shopping destination worldwide.

Hartarto said that the campaign's main focus is promoting local products. Hence, among local products offered during the campaign were those produced by domestic micro, small, and medium enterprises.
"Active participation from 80 thousand tenants, who represent global and local brands at 396 shopping centers in 24 provinces, make this year's program a success," the coordinating minister noted.
In addition to the BINA Diskon 2024 event, he highlighted the 2024 Big Bang Festival year-end clearance sale event in Jakarta has also helped promote local products to members of the public.
Hartarto stated that the 2024 Big Bang Festival serves not only as a celebration of New Year's Day but also as a platform to enhance interaction between business actors and consumers.
He stated that reflecting on the successes of the year-end shopping campaigns, the government expects such campaigns to become annual agendas that contribute positively to the national economy.
"With increasing participation from more parties, we expect those programs to offer greater benefit to the people and the national economy," the coordinating minister remarked.
