TheIndonesia.id - The Ministry of Social Affairs has swiftly mobilized aid and disaster response teams following this week’s severe flooding in Jakarta.

Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims, Masryani Mansyur, confirmed that logistics and disaster preparedness cadets (Tagana) were deployed to flood-stricken areas in West, East, and North Jakarta.

According Antara News Agency, as in response, the ministry delivered assistance in two batches, including 2,000 ready-to-eat meal packages, 400 side dish packages, 200 family kits, 200 children’s clothing packages, and tents, valued at over Rp578 million (around US$35.6 thousand).

Additionally, a second batch sent further relief, including mattresses and more children’s clothing.

To ensure continuous support, the ministry also set up three public kitchens at refugee shelters across the city, providing 12,360 meal boxes daily to flood victims.

Heavy rains from Tuesday to Wednesday have led to widespread flooding, causing 1,171 residents in West Jakarta, 574 in North Jakarta, and 550 in East Jakarta to evacuate to shelters. Thankfully, no fatalities or injuries have been reported.
