TheIndonesia.id - The Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) has set an ambitious goal of placing 425,000 Indonesian citizens in overseas jobs by 2025.

"We are targeting the placement of 425,000 migrant workers abroad this year, an increase from the previous 297,000 people," stated P2MI Deputy Minister Christina Aryani at the Jakarta Job Fair on Wednesday, according to Antara News Agency.

Aryani is confident that this target is achievable, given the global demand for human resources (HR), which reached 1.3 million in 2024.

"Through cross-sector collaboration, we hope to seize this opportunity," Aryani remarked.

She referenced the popular hashtag #KaburAjaDulu, which encourages people to explore foreign job opportunities. Aryani urged the public to view working abroad as a more profitable and promising option.

The deputy minister emphasized the importance of a shift in mindset, encouraging individuals to pursue foreign job opportunities legally and safely, rather than leaving the country without proper arrangements.

She also highlighted the need for collaboration between various sectors to address unemployment and enhance workforce skills.

This approach aligns with Presidential Regulation Number 165 of 2024, which consolidates migrant worker affairs under a single ministry for improved coordination.

"According to President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, collaboration and synergy between ministries and institutions are key. We can optimize potential to support the Asta Cita initiative, especially in boosting quality employment," Aryani added.

Aryani also cautioned the public about online job vacancy scams offering unrealistic terms. "Foreign job advertisements promising $1,000 salaries with no requirements and offering a passport are definitely fraud," she warned.

For legitimate information regarding foreign jobs, Aryani encouraged the public to visit the Ministry of P2MI’s Instagram handle or visit the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Service Center (BP3MI) in DKI Jakarta.

Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is offering 2,000 job openings at the job fair, with 40 companies participating, including BP2MI and the Jakarta Regional Job Training Center (PPKD). The companies span various sectors, including insurance, automotive, retail, and services.
