TheIndonesia.id - To Lam, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, arrived in Jakarta on Sunday ahead of a meeting with Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto scheduled for the following day.
According to Antara News Agency, upon his arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, To Lam, the former President of Vietnam, was welcomed with a formal ceremony, including an honour guard, music, and a gun salute by Indonesian soldiers. Indonesia’s Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, greeted him upon his arrival. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, Director General of Protocol and Consular Affairs at Indonesia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry Andy Rachmianto, as well as Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi and Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong, were also present.
This visit, which will last until March 11, marks To Lam's first official trip to Indonesia since becoming the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
On Monday, To Lam and his wife, Ngo Phuong Ly, will attend a welcoming ceremony hosted by President Prabowo at the Jakarta Presidential Palace. During the visit, To Lam is also scheduled to meet with key Indonesian figures, including Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, and Speaker of the Regional Representative Council Sultan Najamudin.

According to a statement from President Prabowo's office, To Lam’s visit is expected to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Vietnam. The visit also coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
