TheIndonesia.id - Luigi, a 9-years-old boy, fell into 10-meter-depth water well in Denpasar, Bali on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Miraculously the boy only suffered minor injuries in his back.
The water well is located on vacant land owned by a resident from Lembongan, Nusa Penida, Bali. The land is massively used for children to play around.
Cantika, a resident, said that the water well had been there since she moved to the neighborhood in 2004. Brittle wood blocks covered the water well's hollow.
She recalled the chronology of why the boy had fallen. Luigi played with his friends beside her house.
Around 6.15 pm, the boy's friend ran in haste and shouted that Luigi had fallen into the well.
His parents and the residents immediately came over to save the little boy. However, the water well was too deep for them to reach the kid. They finally called the Denpasar Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to evacuate Luigi.
"The parents calm the boy while waiting for the officers," said Cantika at the scene, Thursday (November 18, 2021).
Cantika was grateful because the boy did not suffer any injuries. She taught that it was a miracle for the boy to survive due to the water well's depth.
"It's a miracle that he survived and there were no injuries," she added.
Denpasar Police Public Relations Officer, Iptu Ketut Sukadi, said the water well was dry, and there was no water inside.
Fifteen minutes after the incident, BPBD arrived and rescued the boy.
He was evacuated safely. His parents took him to the hospital for further examination.
"When the victim was evacuated, his condition was safe. He only suffered a minor injury on his back."
