TheIndonesia.id - A group of UFO (unidentified flying object) enthusiasts has chimed in on the recent sighting in Bandung, West Java, and said it could’ve been Sirius star.
In a video captured by Java Jive member Fatur and uploaded to his Instagram, an object can be seen flying in the sky as it rapidly moved from one spot to another.
The caption said the video was taken on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 6.24 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB) from his house in Dago, Bandung.
The post garnered attention, including from UFO enthusiasts in BETA UFO Indonesia.
Representative of the group, Nugy, said the object may have not been UFO but Sirius star or even a planet. Sirius is one of the brightest stars and is often mistaken as UFO.
The hypothesis was backed by data provided by planetarium app Stellarium that revealed Sirius was located close to Earth during the time the video was taken.
Another possibility offered by BETA UFO Indonesia was that the object was a FlyNova drone that’s widely available online.
However, during a later interview with the group, Fatur said he’s sure that the object wasn’t star, planet, or drone because the mysterious object moved very fast and quickly disappeared – something quite impossible for a drone to do.
“It’s up to people whether they choose to believe that it was UFO or not because they didn’t with their own eyes,” he said in the interview, as reported by Suara.com.
“What was captured on camera was different to what I was seeing.”
Upon the interview, BETA UFO Indonesia made another analysis based on four identification categories. First, the group eliminated the possibility that the object was a natural object, such as star or planet, because it made a movement.
Second, it’s also deemed impossible to identify the object as a biological creature, such as insect or bird, because it emitted light and didn’t look like an organism.
Third, artificial object like drone appeared to be the most possible explanation, but it was also dismissed after closer look into the object’s shape, light, height, and speed.
Lastly, illusion was also crossed out from the list of possibilities because the sighting was witnessed by three people.
Based on the examination, BETA UFO Indonesia concluded that the object in the video was most likely a UFO.
